The noisy neighbours of Manchester United did them a huge favour as City defeated Chelsea at Stamford Bridge ending Chelsea's 38 unbeaten home matches since Arsenal in November 2008.

With the Reds involved in Sunday's Carling Cup final, Carlo Ancelotti's side had a chance to go four points clear in the Barclays Premier League.
