ARJEN ROBBEN has apologised to Bayern Munich's fans following his touchline bust-up with boss Louis van Gaal.
The two Dutchmen rowed face-to-face as Robben ignored Van Gaal's outstretched hand after being substituted in Wednesday's Champions League clash with Lyon.
But former Chelsea star Robben now admits his reaction was born out of frustration.
He said: "I had a really good feeling and felt I was really in the game and I could have scored another goal.
"Therefore, I could not understand why I was being removed. But I have to apologise to all of the fans because I shouldn't do that.
"I should have been more professional, but this is just part of my mentality - I always want to win."
Robben scored the only goal in Munich's semi-final, first-leg victory.
And Van Gaal insisted he simply wanted to rest Robben for Saturday's Bundesliga trip to Borussia Monchengladbach, adding: "We need him to score goals there, too.
P.S: I saw the bust-up LIVE on ESPN and Louis van Gaal was pointing his forefinger at Arjen after the incident which meant he was reassuring who was the boss.
