Wayne's Gains

In just one week, Wayne Rooney was named Footballer of the Year by the Footballers' Writers Association. He will receive the award in Lancaster Hotel in London on May 13. Rooney has said that he is feeling very glad and it has been a very good experience to be a part of that list which carries the name of some of the world's greatest players. The Association has been honoring the all time great Football palyers since 1948.Rooney has expressed his contentment and has said that he is very much thankful to his manager at United, Sir Alex Ferguson, the coaching staff and his team-mates for this award.

Next up, News of the World reports that Wayne Rooney topped the Premier League's richest with 33 million pounds due to lucrative contracts and 150,000 pounds-per-week salary. But his salary is only a quarter of David Beckham's fortune.

Then, just as the awards and accolade seem to stop for Man United's in-form striker, British teenagers voted Wayne Rooney and Cheryl Cole as public figures they most believed in.
