Manchester United Crush Pompey!

Current Premier League champions defeated debt-stricken Portsmouth 5-0 at Old Trafford. Right before kick-off, red-hot striker Wayne Rooney had collected Barclays Player of the Month which may have been the motivation he needed to win against Portsmouth. The England international scored his 23rd goal of the season which is his career-best.

But given United's possession, it took them 40 minutes to score the first goal courtesy of Wayne Rooney. The Devils added a second at the stroke of half-time when Nani's effort took two deflections which resulted Vandon Borre scoring into his own net. Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov also scored later on with another own-goal from Marc Wilson to make the score 5.

All the United players were wearing black arm-bands to commemorate the 52nd anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster in which 23 people, 8 who were United players, died. United are currently on top of the table with a point clear of Chelsea but Chelsea can go top again if they beat Arsenal in the London derby at Stamford Bridge.

Attention: I am not sure if Vandon Borre's goal is considered an own goal due to Nani's effort. Different sources say different things about the own goals. I am following Manutd.com's result on who scored it.
